Coweta Coach of the Month, Lucien Littledave, has been with the high school for three years now, coaching the junior varsity and freshman basketball teams. Before coaching at Coweta, Littledave coached at Salina High School. This year was the first time he’s helped the girl’s volleyball and will also coach his first season of girl’s golf in the spring. Littledave said being recognized as Coach of the Month feels great, especially being only his third year with the program. 

“It’s great to know that the hard work I put in is noticed and recognized,” said Littledave. 

He first got his love for coaching in high school while helping his father coach his little brother’s basketball team. 

“I enjoy helping out student athletes reach their goals both on and off the court,” said Littledave. “I also still have that competitive drive that coaching helps to satisfy,” said Littledave when asked what his favorite part of coaching was. 

Growing up Littledave played basketball and baseball for Salina High School, where he would spend his first three years as a coach. He would then go on to attend Northeastern State University and graduate from there in 2017. 

This year has been a difficult one with COVID-19, but Littledave makes sure not to let that bring him or his team down.

“I understand that any practice or game could be our last and with that in mind I focus on one day at a time,” said Littledave. 

This season he has enjoyed every game like it was his last, making just about every game his favorite. 

“This season I look forward to competing and seeing if we will reach our goals,” Littledave said. 

In his free time, he enjoys going to the golf course to get some relaxation. He also enjoys spending time with his wife of three years, Sarah.
