On defense, the Tigers have two goals in mind, stop the run and force turnovers. Over the past three seasons the Tigers have been one of the best schools in Class 5A at forcing opponents into mistakes. With eight starters returning on defense, they look to keep up the trend. They will continue to play an aggressive 4-3 base with multiple looks in the secondary to shrink the field. Wyatt Holmes (6-3, 285, Sr.), Justin Robinson (6-1, 295, Jr.), Deacon Peterson (6-2, 235, Jr.), and Carson Flanary (6-1, 215, Sr.) all have incredible size and speed on the defensive front and are a terror for opposing linemen. Flanary, Holmes, and Robinson have combined for nearly 40 sacks and Peterson had 14 of his own in 2021. Nathan Maledon (6-1, 185, Sr.) starts at safety and has over 200 tackles in his career with nine interceptions. Ford, a two-way starter, has picked off seven passes and returned two for a score. This experienced Tiger defense has big expectations for 2022 and is ready to deliver.
