Brothers Nathan and Luke Maledon have been integral parts of the suffocating Tiger defense this season in Coweta as the team continues its undefeated season. Coweta is coming off a victory over Claremore in the first round of the playoffs and has an upcoming matchup with Bishop McGuinness. Nathan, the older of the two, is a senior and plays strong safety for the Tigers. He is a hard hitting and ballhawking player in the defensive backfield that makes plays all over the field in the secondary. Luke is a junior and plays in the linebacking core and has been a leading tackler on the team. Recently the two spoke with VYPE Magazine about their season and shared some thoughts about playing football together, life after high school, and a little friendly banter.
VYPE: So guys, what has been the highlight of the season so far?
Nathan: The highlight this year up until this point is probably having an undefeated season.
Luke: Going undefeated.
VYPE: What has been the key to success so far?
Nathan: An unselfish and disciplined defense.
Luke: Definitely being unselfish and trusting the people beside you.
VYPE: Do you play with more confidence knowing you’ve got your brother on the field with you?
Nathan: Yes, because we got each other’s back.
VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve received from a coach or teammate?
Nathan: Do the little things right.
Luke: Play one play at a time.
VYPE: How do you guys like to spend your free time?
Nathan & Luke: Hang out with friends and family.
VYPE: So what’s the plan after high school?
Nathan: Probably go to college and study physical therapy.
Luke: I plan to go to college and work on starting a business.
Nathan: I want to change my answer. I want to start a business too.
Luke & Nathan: We’ll go to college and then start a business together.
VYPE: Here’s a fun one. Who wins in each of these: a foot race, a pizza eating competition, and a game of Madden?
Nathan: Me. Me. Me.
Luke: He wins the foot race, I win the pizza eating, and I win the game of Madden.
