Coweta High School
Coweta High School’s Vance Disney is a member of the varsity track team and a member of the graduating class of 2024. This track season wasn’t exactly what the senior expected, but he still got something out of his final season.
“This season was a struggle personally because of battling injury and sickness majority of the season. My mentality improved the most after battling with so much adversity, although my times didn’t improve, I learned to deal with much more adversity then ever before,” said Disney.
A competitor in the 200 and 400-meter relays, Disney said being around his teammates is what he enjoys most.
“I love every one of my teammates the bonds we make on the relays is truly something special. Because of the amount of work, we go through together, we become very good friends very fast,” said Disney.
Competing at the state track meet has been a highlight of his track career.
“Being able to even compete at state was a blessing after not being sure if I could even compete this year and seeing all my teammates achieve personal bests was awesome to be a part of,” said Disney.
As he makes his exit from CHS to college, Disney said he hopes the team continues to compete and represent Coweta track in a positive light.
“The team is full of young talent. Very few seniors next year so much time for everyone to develop their skills to be top notch. I wish all my coaches amazing things, they taught me several life lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life and I’m extremely thankful. To my teammates, always do your best in meets and in practice,” said Disney.
This fall Disney will begin a new journey as he plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
