Coweta High School senior Graycee Graham enters her final season with a clear mindset, strong leadership skills and a deep appreciation for the game that has shaped her.
Graham, a varsity softball player for Coweta, has developed into a versatile athlete, balancing time in the outfield, at first base and in the pitcher’s circle. While handling multiple positions can be challenging, she embraces the responsibility. “The hardest thing is keeping them all in working order,” Graham said.
Her growth as a player has been influenced by those who came before her, especially former Coweta standout Tayen Allen, who now plays at McLennan Community College.
“She’s living the dream I’ve always wanted,” Graham said. “Seeing her succeed at one of the highest levels inspires me.”
As a senior, Graham has also taken on a leadership role, emphasizing communication, teamwork and understanding the game beyond the basics.
“The best unspoken rule would have to be if you’re a high-level pitcher and hitter, understanding the game at a deeper level,” she said.
That knowledge translates directly to her approach at the plate.
“Attack early and swing at the first pitch because it’s the best one you’re going to get,” Graham said.
Beyond performance, Graham values the relationships built through softball. She said the time spent with teammates creates bonds that last far beyond high school.
“We’re like a family at the end of the day, and the bonds I’ve made with some of them will last a lifetime,” she said.
She credits teammates like Kenzie Howard as one of the most vocal leaders, while Trinity Cloke keeps the team loose with her sense of humor. Graham also joked that Ava Cornell consistently ends games with the dirtiest uniform.
Off the field, Graham enjoys swimming, reading and listening to music. In the classroom, math stands out as her favorite subject, and she credits her eighth-grade pre-algebra teacher, Mrs. Morgan, as her most influential educator. Through her years in athletics, Graham said she has gained skills that will carry into her future.
“Communication skills, leadership, and how to work together,” she said.
As she prepares for her final season, Graham remains focused not only on performance but also on making the most of her last opportunities in a Coweta uniform. For her, success is about more than wins and losses it is about growth, relationships and leaving a lasting impact on the program.
