Currently teaching geometry, intermediate algebra, as well as algebra II at Coweta High School, Heather Sinkinson is entering her eighth-year teaching and her fourth year with the high school.
Before her current teaching position, she taught special education at the secondary level for four years. A graduate of Broken Arrow High School, Heather went on to earn her degree from Northeastern State University.
“My favorite thing about teaching is my students,” said Heather. “I love interacting with them and seeing the light bulb moments. Building relationships is a very important part of teaching. With teaching, I am always laughing about something every day with them.”
Teaching can be a very overwhelming job at times, but when you love what you do, it is also the most rewarding job you can do.
“Teaching is not always easy, but it is very rewarding,” Heather said. “I love having previous students stop by just to say hello or give me an update on their latest adventure.”
Not only is Heather busy teaching her math skills in the classroom, but she also volunteers as the sponsor for the student-led Equality Club as well as the assistant coach of their schools E-Sports Club.
During her free time Heather enjoys one of her many interests including video gaming, reading, painting, or staying healthy going to the gym for a zumba class. In her summers she enjoys getting to travel somewhere new as well as spend time with her significant other, three dogs, and her many plants.
