COWETA TIGERS
BLAKE DUNN
35-3
The defending state champions are back and ready to look for a repeat on the softball field. With key players from last year’s team returning, a promising group of underclassmen, head coach Blake Dunn feels they have a shot at doing it again. Kayley Iott played substantial minutes for the Tigers last season and looks to lead her team using her experience and talent. “She is a junior this year and excels at both catcher and third base. She is very solid offensively as well. Great work ethic, leadership, and a great all-around player,” Dunn said.
Expect Iott to continue to make a name for herself on the field and look for her team to be at the top of the state again. Joining Iott is Chaney Helton. Helton is an underclassman and has a lot of potential according to her head coach. Big things are expected from Helton as she gets older, and her hard work and dedication to perfecting her game will be evident during the season.
Bailey Cooper also deserves to be recognized and coach Dunn believes she will be the silent killer on their team. Cooper does all the little things, making the biggest difference on her team which usually goes unnoticed. Her play is very valued to this Tigers softball team, and she plays her role to perfection. Expect to see the Tigers at the top of the rankings yet again after going 35-3 a season ago.
