Coweta’s Kate Little Athlete Spotlight Presented by Rib Crib

Kate Little

Coweta High School

When Coweta High School’s Kate Little first got involved in FFA she was a freshman. Now a junior, Little has turned her focus to the basketball court for the Lady Tigers, but her time in FFA was memorable.

“I was raised around agriculture and have continued to work with livestock and farming the entirety of my childhood. So, naturally, I enrolled in the available agricultural course my freshman year,” said Little. “Although I am no longer a member, I would say the sense of community and family being in a big group of students who are all as passionate as you and who have roots that run deep into the agricultural side of Coweta.”

As a Lady Tiger, Little said there is never a dull moment with her teammates.

“I love that there is never a dull moment with my teammates. From the girls that I’ve grown up with playing basketball, to the ones that have more recently joined us, they all feel like family. We are able have such fluid chemistry as a team and we all make it a mission to challenge each other to become better on and off the court. I would definitely say what I love most about my team and teammates is how they’ve all seen me grow into myself and continue to push and challenge me to become better every day. I cherish every one of them,” said Little. “What I love most about the basketball program is that it can be anything you make it. I try to bring positivity and humor to the floor every day, because in sports it can be very easy to become too serious and get down when things don’t go your way. So, I would say I love the way our team can make it a light and welcoming place to improve on your game and grow as a whole.”

Little also competes with the track team and is a member of National Honor Society. Little said her sister has been a big influence in her life.

“My older sister of two years has been a huge influence on my life. She has taught me how to persevere in the face of adversity, educated me on taking my time in things because life moves so fast, and taught me how to love my journey and devote myself to the things I enjoy. I would say she not only has inspired me in so many parts of my life, but also levels me as a person,” said Little.

Little is still considering her options for life after high school. One thing seems certain, whatever she decides, success is sure to follow.

“Exactly what I would like to do with my college and career remains undecided. If I had to say today, I would choose to get a degree in general nursing or in rehabilitation nursing and become a traveling nurse with my sister so that we can not only help people but travel around together while we’re young,” said Little.
