There are people in each of our lives that influence us and help shape us into the person we become. Whether it is someone we know well or someone we watch on television that we choose to be our role model, the impact that this person has on us can be immeasurable. Alexis Schauffler says that her mom is the person that has greatly influenced her.
“My mom is one of the strongest people I know,” Alexis said. “She pushes me to my limits in life and sports. She also shows me what’s right and wrong and made me the athlete I am today.”
A sophomore at Coweta High School, Schauffler is a member of the Lady Tigers’ volleyball and basketball teams. She says that the success she has experienced during her career has been earned.
“It has taken a lot of hard work for me to be where I am today,” she said. “It has also required dedication and mental toughness. While the work may be hard at times, in the end, it is all worth it.”
Another person that Alexis looks up to is former NBA superstar, Larry Bird.
“He was a hard worker,” she stated. “He kept working until he was a great player. And all the work that he put in, he did it for his mom. He was a really great player.”
Throughout her years of playing sports, Alexis has been able to enjoy many memorable moments with her teammates, both on and off the court. She says that her favorite memory happened on the volleyball court.
“My favorite moment happened to my teammate Taylor,” Schauffler said. “She dove for a pass and ended up hitting her head on the ball.”
While she has sat through many classes at Coweta, Alexis says that she does have a favorite teacher.
“Mrs. Sugg would have to be my favorite teacher,” she said. “She is my Spanish teacher and she’s my best friend and one of the best teachers I’ve ever had.”
