Coweta’s Alex Harper – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Coweta

Parents can play a big role in the lives of their children. More than just raising them, giving them a home to live in, and food to eat, parents can also play a bigger, more important role. For Alex Harper, her parents have always been someone for her to look up to.

“My parents are my biggest role models,” she said. “They have always worked hard to get to where they are. They have also made Jesus an important part of our home.”

Alexis is a senior at Coweta High School. She plays outside hitter and defensive specialist for the Lady Tigers volleyball team. She has been playing volleyball for eight years and is excited to get her senior season underway.

She has had to do a lot to become the athlete that she is today. While the work that she has put in has been important and vital, Harper has also had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to improve.

“It has taken dedication and discipline,” she said. “You have to show up every day and continually work towards getting better. This also means working by yourself, outside of team practices.”

During her career, Alex has made many memories with her teammate, on and off the field. While she has enjoyed them all, she says that there is one that stands out above the rest.

“Last season, we beat Claremore in Regionals would have to be my favorite memory,” she said. “We also made it to the state tournament two years and that is a pretty awesome accomplishment.”

Harper has sat in the classrooms of many different teachers at Coweta, each one with its own type of teaching style. While she learned something in each of their classes, she does say that there is one teacher that made an impact on her life.
“My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Carroll,” she said. “She taught me to be kind to everyone no matter what their situation was.”

Outside of volleyball, Harper is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, student council, Leadership, and she is also a trainer for the football team.
