Addison Cain, a senior at Coweta High School, has built a busy and accomplished student-athlete career, competing in golf for three years and cheer for two. She currently serves as captain and back-spot of her cheer squad, while also holding roles as class president and district student council secretary.
Cain’s passion for golf traces directly back to family. “My grandpa inspires me because he is not only the best grandpa ever, he is also my golf coach! He always wants the best for me, always shows up for me, and is always pushing me. I hope I can be that person for others around me,” she said.
Her go-to club reflects where her journey began. “My favorite club in my golf bag is my 7-iron because that is the club I learned how to golf with, and now every time I practice the first club, I grab is my 7-iron!” Cain said. She also named La Fortune as her favorite course “because they have night golf, and it is really fun.”
Cain said her biggest growth area has been mental. “I have definitely worked the hardest to improve myself mentally in golf, just trying to shake off the bad shots and focus on the good!” she said. On the cheer side, she cited Friday nights as unforgettable. “My favorite part of cheer is Friday Night lights! I love cheering on our team and it is just so fun! It’s a memory I never want to forget!” Cain said.
Balancing two sports and leadership roles takes discipline. “I balance the time commitment by staying organized and staying on top of everything. Having good time management helps me be able to give my best effort to school and sports,” she said.
Cain credited her best friend and former teammate for shaping her mindset. “My best friend Taryn, my former teammate, has made the biggest impact on me. She pushes me constantly to become the best version of myself and always supports and shows up for me,” Cain said.
Outside sports, Cain enjoys time with friends, church and shopping, and calls math her favorite subject.
